Silver Lining Music

Alcatrazz have unleashed a brand new album titled ‘V’ and with it, a new singer, Doogie White. The big question is, have Alcatrazz made the alcatrazz album coverright decision in replacing longstanding singer Graham Bonnet and is the music still up to spec.

The first thing I noticed when listening to the album in full before writing the critique, is how impressive the band are musically and any doubt in my mind that it could’ve gone awry were, thankfully, unfounded. The vocal performance from Doogie White is  mightily impressive and boy, can this lad hold a tune.

The tracks that got my attention were the following:‘Guardian Angel’, ‘Nightwatch’, ‘Sword Of Deliverance’, ‘Turn Of The Wheel’, ‘Blackheart’, ‘Grace Of God’, ‘Return To Nevermore’, ‘Target’, ‘Maybe Tomorrow’, ‘House Of Lies’, ‘Alice’s Eyes’ and ‘Dark Day For My Soul’.

I did try to find a song that didn’t impress me, but found it nigh on impossible, and believe me i tried.

The guest appearances on the album from Saxon’s Nigel Glockler (on ‘Guardian Angel’ and ‘Blackheart’), Tank’s Cliff Evans (on ‘Grace of God’) and Donnie Van Stavern of Riot (on ‘Guardian Angel’, ‘Nightwatch’ and ‘Target’) all add just that perfect sparkle to make the songs catch your attention.

In summing up about how I feel about this album, it’s great to hear a band showcase that they are still relevant in 2021, as they were back in their 1980s heyday and they are doing it, with not only a new singer, but, with a sense of showcasing how good the musicians are at delivering an album, they can be justly proud of and one, that I will be giving repeated listens to and enjoying even more.

Alcatrazz are making their presence felt in the rock world LOUDLY and without compromise.
