ArcTanGent Turns August 2026 Into a Genre-Spanning Rock Showcase
Time to empty your wallet and open your calendar: festival season is at the door, and it doesn’t get much wilder than this. Enter the highly renowned ArcTanGent Festival. If anyone can mix novelty with rock extravaganza, it’s ArcTanGent. Crowned Best Small Festival at the Festival Awards (2018), the independent event creates a beautifully chaotic space surrounded by open countryside.
When? August 19th – 22nd, 2026
Where? Fernhill Farm, near Bristol
As the organisers put it:
The award-winning ArcTanGent Festival is a green fields music festival that delivers line-ups you won’t find anywhere else on Earth. ArcTanGent Festival has built a reputation for itself as THE emerging UK rock festival, both putting on exclusive performances from exceptional, worldwide artists and supporting new, exciting talent.
And yes, they mean it. Fuelled by musical variability, avant-garde staging, and headliners spanning countless rock and metal subgenres, ArcTanGent becomes a melting pot of rock, metal, doom, psych, math rock, post-rock, folk rock, and the avant-garde. And if you thought the list ended there — you were wrong.
A few names, dropped like bait, because anticipation should be high:
- PRIMUS
- CHELSEA WOLFE
- CULT OF LUNA & JULIE CHRISTMAS
- EIVØR
- MASS OF THE FERMENTING DREGS
- ARCANE ROOTS
- MARUJA
- NOTHING
Primus return to the UK after nearly ten years, once again demonstrating just how experimental rock can be.
Chelsea Wolfe, a BBC 6Music favourite, brings whispering mystery magically combined with earth-shaking heaviness — the kind of set that feels more like atmosphere than entertainment.
Cult of Luna and Julie Christmas celebrate an anniversary: ten years of Mariner, performed in full. And for anyone not planning international travel, this is the moment — this show will be a UK one-off, at least for 2026.
The teasing is at the highest level, with just a hint of nerves. Johannes of Cult of Luna says:
[…] We’re grateful to ArcTanGent Festival for giving us the opportunity to return to this material together. So with a mix of excitement and a fair bit of fear, we’re preparing to bring these songs back to life next summer.
Julie Christmas adds:
This will be an experience, not a performance. Blood, sweat, and tears… light, love, and sound so loud I might shatter. […] The ArcTanGent Festival is run by some of the most hardworking, brave and passionate people I’ve met. I’m terrified; I feel the electricity already. So grateful to be allowed to be part of something bigger than I could ever do alone. Don’t miss this.
This spectacle should not be missed. There are still a few months to go, but the excitement is already brewing. Speaking of the new additions, organiser James Scarlett notes:
To have them all headline ATG in the same year is literally unbelievable — and we’re extremely proud to present a festival line up truly unlike anything else you’ll find on the planet.
Four days of carefully curated chaos are being promised — and the line-up seems determined to prove it. Enjoy the search: the full line-up can be found below.
