Avatar! Metal’s Finest Freakshow Hits Nottingham Rock City!

On the 17th of February 2025, Avatar rocked the stage at Nottingham Rock City. Touring with powerhouse bands Alien Weaponry and Witch Club Satan as part of their’ ‘A Night To Be Torn Apart Tour’, and this was not a show to miss!

Norwegian female Black Metallers Witch Club Satan set the tone for the rest of the gig with raw screams and high-paced riffs. From musical ability and theatrical performance, they left the crowd stunned from the first song, ‘Witchcraft Techno’. This is definitely not a band to underestimate.

Combining Mauri Culture and heavy metal, Alien Weaponry brought the energy no one could expect. These thrashy riffs and heavy screams blend beautifully to create an amazing performance that kept the crowd mesmerised from start to finish. The highlight of this set for me was definitely the track ‘Te Riri o Tāwhirimātea’, with a blend of death metal and clean vocals, this band showed a range of musical ability that was impossible not to notice and love. With a short set of only five songs, Alien Weaponry brought the energy and left the crowd wanting more.

Onto the main event, Avatar opened their set with ‘Captain Goat’, an epic song from their newest album ‘Don’t Go into the Forest’. The highlight from this show for me was definitely ‘Torn Apart’ from their 2012 album Black Waltz. Avatar changed the tone completely and showed off the musical range by performing their new ballad, ‘Howling at the Wolves’; this song combines beautiful piano work and melodies that could leave anybody speechless. Avatar has shown time and time again that they will always put on a great show, no matter the venue.

This show provided a consistent energy, with theatrical performances from the legendary Witch Club Satan and Avatar, and raw energy from powerhouse metallers Alien Weaponry. This show kept the crowd engaged from start to finish, with the crowd’s chants and mosh pits ruling the night, this atmosphere was electric throughout.
