Roadwolf – Band of the Month January 2021
Written by Tina Saul on January 4, 2021
It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new band of the month, and we’re feeling good. This month’s band hail from Austria and are getting 2021 started off with a healthy dose of heavy metal courtesy of ROADWOLF.
Album: ‘Unchain The Wolf’
Release: 27 November 2020
Style: True Heavy Metal
RIYL/FFO: Judas Priest, Saxon, Iron Maiden
Location: Wr. Neustadt / AUSTRIA
Furious, energetic and uncompromisingly recorded, all ten tracks on “Unchain the Wolf” captivate not only with their irrepressible energy, with snappy hooks and riffs, the likes of which have not been heard in this intensity for a long time. Whether it’s the first single “All Hell is Breaking Loose”, “Wheels of Fire”, “Never Surrender” or the theme song “Roadwolf”: the band doesn’t care much about superimposed complexity, but is more interested in hymns that are timeless and straight-in-your-face.
The lyrics are about freedom, independence and about breaking your chains. The street wolf embodies this, he is a loner and doesn’t answer to anybody. The theme is also reflected in the logo of the wolf’s head that bites through his chains, drawn by Bernie Luther (TattooDemon Studios, Viennese tattoo legend). Besides the classic heavy metal power lyrics there are also more mystical lyrics and are inspired by HP Lovecraft or C.G. Jung, among others.
It is time to break the chains: ROADWOLF are ready to lead the pack not only LIVE but also on record – “Unchain the Wolf” hear the call of the wild!

Classic Rock magazine have given glowing reviews of ‘Before Dark Clouds‘ and their self-titled vinyl-only mini-album. These, coupled with regular plays on BBC Radio 2’s Rock Show and Planet Rock Radio, have catapulted the English quartet firmly into the limelight. Now fans eagerly anticipate their next release, which, on the strength of the first two albums, promises to be an epic. The band of David James Smith (vocals & guitar), Lee Churchill (bass), Russell Hill (keyboards) and Chris Ogden (drums), have been building a reputation as one of the best live acts around.

Disconnected is a modern metal band drawing many influences like Avenged Sevenfold, Gojira & Alter Bridge. The band was created back in 2012 by lead guitarist & composer Adrian Martinot. After struggling for a few years finding the right lineup, the band finally find balance when joined by lead singer Ivan Pavlakovic, then followed by Romain Laure, Florian Merindol and Jelly Cardarelli in 2018. They released their debut album White Colossus in March 2018 through indie record label, Apathia Records on all major streaming platforms with physical releases in Europe and Japan.
After playing numerous gigs in France they opened for Tremonti on his 2018 European tour playing a further 24 gigs across 17 countries. After that the band were invited to open for Judas Priest in January 2019. Disconnected also supported Mass Hysteria in March and November 2019. The band is also booked to play on big European festivals for summer 2021, such as Rock Fest in Barcelona, Cabaret Vert in France and many more..
They are currently recording their second album and have just released a first single UNSTOPPABLE. Presenting another wave of ultra-slick metal formed of tightly-navigated, chuggy verses bursting out into broad, epic choruses, ‘Unstoppable’ bursts from the floodgates with unbridled force, with the accompanying live performance video perfectly captivating the energy and scope of Disconnected’s live show.
