Black Label Society Release New Album ‘Engines of Demolition’, Featuring ‘Ozzy’s Song’
Sometimes, patience pays off: the long-awaited Black Label Society album Engines of Demolition has arrived and, as expected, it hits exactly as hard.
A band doing what it has always done best — so no surprise here: apparently, Black Label Society lives by a motto one can only nod along to:
“Less is more with everything — except the guitar solos and coffee!”
And for over 25 years, the band, under the creative iron fist of Zakk Wylde, has built its very own society — one shaped by an interplay of blues-inspired melodies, hard-hitting riffs, and soul-baring ballads. With the release of Engines of Demolition, then, Black Label Society once again reinforces their unmistakable imprint on the hard rock scene — one that has been expanding for decades.
A development that can be summarized by a saying that is quite stereotypical, yet nonetheless true: staying authentically themselves — not by equating trends with quality, but rather by elegantly outlasting them. Evidently, the release continues that very tradition, revealing heart-wrenching moments that unfold into gripping, memorable melodies.
At the same time, the long-standing professional and deeply personal relationship between Zakk Wylde and Ozzy Osbourne remains another defining aspect running through the tracklist. As a guitarist and musical partner for over three decades, Wylde was by Osbourne’s side in nearly every phase of his solo career, from 1987 until his tragic death in July 2025.
And so, in the aptly placed final track, “Ozzy’s Song”, the protégé lays bare his grief and melancholy — a song that truly resonates. Here, the feeling of loss, often isolating, is transformed through unity and empathy into something connective, almost cathartic. Written lyrically in the aftermath of the Prince of Darkness’s funeral, the memories pass in review through Wylde, spoken from the depths of the heart — the tribute a reminder that even in heaviness, there is a sense of shared weight.

After all, as Zakk Wylde himself will tell you, everything in Black Label Society begins and ends with the riff: short, repeated and unmistakable, forming the very core identity (of a song). And indeed, only a few bands embody that principle as relentlessly as Black Label Society — a fact that, for those willing to look deeper, reveals a quiet metaphor at the heart of it all.
Embark on the musical journey this album delivers — like a warm, hopeful hug in the darkest of days. Because one thing should not be forgotten: “Enjoy the ride — it doesn’t last for long.”
