Bloodkill ‘Throne of Control’
19 January 2021 – Self released
Words: Mark Green
All the way from Mumbai is this debut cracker, ‘Throne of Control‘ from Bloodkill. These gentlemen combine thrash with all the elements of true heavy metal. And just look at that artwork. How can you say no to that?
After the opening epic sounds of ‘The Unveiling‘, things get good very quickly with ‘Blindead Circus‘, displaying an aggressive approach. Vocalist Anirudh Gollapudi has a rough touch that could be mistaken for Mille Petroza of Kreator with a dash of Wednesday 13, just to mix it up.
The album isn’t just a balls to walls thrashathon either. Bloodkill have crafted their songs carefully, taking in to account when the right times are to speed things up or slow things down. For a band releasing their debut album, they certainly have a mature approach.
Previously released ‘3B‘ has a more sinister feel in its sound, with a slow groove, hinting to some of Trivium‘s heavier tracks. This is sure to have you headbanging.
‘Horrorscope‘ is possibly the highlight of the album, with the gallop of guitars and drums perfectly in sync, change of tempos and superb soaring solos to cap it off.
The title track is an appropriate swansong for the album, ending it on an exciting note and leaving us feeling very satisfied with ourselves. We’ve just listened to the beginning of what I hope is the start of something special.
Bloodkill show that thrash is alive and well throughout the world. Bloody good showing chaps.
