Brighton Pride’s First Rock Festival

Written by on July 17, 2025

Pride Rock Festival originated from a desire to represent musical diversity at Brighton Pride, and showcase Rock/alt talents to support the LGBTQ+ community

Headlining the event is a trail blazing guitarist who has amassed the kind of following that even the guitar gods she grew up idolizing would be envious of, with a reach surpassing 180 million views on YouTube and over 4 million followers across her social channels. None other than the amazing Sophie Lloyd with main support coming from the genre-blending Indie, R&B, acoustic, rap artist BEX.

Most recently, Sophie could be seen shredding on stage touring globally as guitarist for Machine Gun Kelly, taking on his Mainstream Sellout World Tour, sold out shows at legendary venues such Madison Square Garden in New York and Wembley Arena in London, Cleveland Stadium, festivals such as Lollapalooza, Hellfest, Rock Am Ring, Rock Im Park, and huge sporting events in the NBA and NFL. While shredding for MGK, Sophie has also shared the stage with collaborators such as Halsey, Jelly Roll, Yungblud, Oli Sykes and Travis Barker.

Sophie released her debut solo album in November 2023, a completely independent endeavour via her own Autumn Records label. Recorded during the covid lockdown, Sophie reached out to some of her heroes to collaborate, on boarding names such as Lzzy Hale (Halestorm), Matt Heafy (Trivium), Chris Robertson (Black Stone Cherry), Brandon Saller (Atreyu) and Nathan James (Inglorious). The album received rave reviews, hitting number 3 in the rock charts and 11 in the independent albums chart on week of release, with the music videos for the album receiving over 8.6 million views and counting.

“I am beyond excited to headline Pride Rock Festival—it’s an honor to stand on that stage and celebrate the power of music and the LGBTQ+ community. Rock ‘n’ roll has always been about breaking boundaries and rebellion. Being unashamed of who you are and standing proud. This community embodies the rock and roll spirit and shows how music can unite us all. This is for every person who’s ever felt like an outsider and turned their truth into a force that moves the world. So get ready to rock with some heavy riffs and face melting solos!” – Sophie Lloyd

BEX is hailed as Punk’s newest daughter who is a fierce DIY punk rocker who believes in the power of DIY. Known for crafting bass-heavy songs that speak to her experiences as a woman, BEX’s music boldly highlights the ongoing inequalities she sees in the world.

“Among the growing list of genres available to the listening public, LGBTQ listeners are predominantly listening to rock and pop music on a weekly basis, with 46% of LGBTQ respondents saying they listen to rock music on a weekly basis, while 34% said they listen to pop on a weekly basis” – Luminate.
