CAVE IN CONFIRM NEW ALBUM

Written by on April 9, 2019

Cave In are to release a new album on June 7.

It’s titled ‘Final Transmission’ and will be on the Hydra Head label.  It features the last recordings of bassist Caleb Scofield, who died in a road accident on March 28 last year.  Recalls drummer JR Conners: “Adam, Steve and I would sometimes get together to work on stuff when Caleb couldn’t make it. But the next time Caleb would be there and the songs turned into something else. It became much more of a Cave In project than it was before he showed up. He had weird rhythms that none of us would ever come up with or think to try, which turned the material into a different thing. He had a huge hand in these songs.”

The album was mixed by Andrew Schneider.

“Getting these mixes back was really hard,” says vocalist/guitarist Steve Brodsky says. “I don’t think I’ve cried so much putting together any record. I’ve definitely felt like bursting into tears while I was working on things, but this was actual water being shed. I don’t try to look too deeply into how these things work, but these recordings are some of our last moments spending time with him.”

Half of the proceeds from sales of the album will go to Scofield’s wife and children.
