Written by Malcolm Dome on June 4, 2019
Deep Purple are out out a number of live albums, as a result of a deal with earMUSIC.
The first in this limited edition series will be ‘Newcastle 2001’, which was recorded in Newcastle, Australia on March 14 2001. Says Roger Glover: “After touring Australia in the early 70s, we returned in 1999 with Steve Morse on guitar. Australia had given us a great welcome back and for this night in 2001, we felt like doing something different, so we added singers and a horn section. A rare night and a special gig.”
Each album in the series will be limited to 20,000 numbered CDs and 2000 numbered triple LPs. Some have previously been available as rare fan club recordings, while others have never been released before.
