EAT YOUR OWN HEAD Reveal New Single ‘Trawler’ Released 8th May 2024 via Drongo Records

Norwich alt/noise-rock band Eat Your Own Head are pleased to reveal their new single ‘Trawler’ set for release on 8th May 2024 via all good streaming services.

The track is the latest to be taken from their forthcoming new EP The Trawler, set for release on 31st May 2024 via Drongo Records.

New single ‘Trawler’ gives an overview of the EP’s main lyrical themes—capturing the emotional baggage, vices, and restlessness that accumulate over the course of adult life. The middle eight lyric ‘Throw out the net, we’ve got a hole’ forms a mesmerising chant, encapsulating the underlying tension in the track perfectly.

Sonically, the single dances from frantic verses to an explosive and ferocious finish, making subtle references to various musical styles outside of the rock sphere, with a samba-influenced rhythm evolving into a heavy afro-beat feel as the crescendo approaches.

Commenting on the track, front man and lyricist Ash Woolnough says: “‘Trawler’ is about the feeling of disconnection, as I rummage through the tangled net of adult life. Like the fisherman that doesn’t get to eat his catch.”

Laid down in sessions during Nov/Dec 2023 by producer David Vickers, mixed by Mikey Shaw, and mastered by Katie Tavini, the band’s forthcoming new EP was recorded at Bomb Store Studio, nestled in the atomic bomb store and servicing facility on Thetford Heath—one of the two central stores built in the mid-1950s to coincide with the deployment by the RAF of its first operational atomic bomb, codenamed `Blue Danube’.

Lead single ‘Chest Pains’ was released earlier this year and picked up support from alternative music influencers at Guitar World, Distorted Sound, Noizze, Buttonpusher DIY, The Scene, Machine Music, Alt Corner, Full Pelt Music, and more.

The quartet have built a strong live reputation from the word go and have since been on to play all over the UK including support slots with more established acts such as The Physics House Band, St. Pierre Snake Invasion, Sugar Horse, The Guru Guru, Lunch Money Life, My Octopus Mind and many more.

Fresh from recent support slots with Heavy Lungs and The Fierce and the Dead, the band have a run of select UK dates lined up for the summer months with tickets on sale now (see below for listings).
