Goodbye Dear Friend…
Written by Tony Wilson on November 1, 2021
It is with the greatest sadness that I have to announce the death of my dear friend and colleague Malcolm Dome. As a journalist he was known from the earliest days for his articulate, incisive yet fair critiques of music and earned the respect and friendship of musicians the world over and yet he was one of the most modest, self effacing people who always shied away from the limelight.
Malcolm was a key part of TotalRock, joining us before we were even called TotalRock. He was part of our DNA and his absence among us will leave a void that no other can fill.
Many will come with their own memories stories over the coming days and weeks for Malcolm was a friend and confidant of musicians and music industry leaders the world over, but today I just want to say on behalf of myself and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him, goodbye and God bless dear friend. Metaaal!

Malcolm was a genuine example of a much overused word, a true LEGEND. RIP, Malcolm.

I was so sad to hear the news of Malcolm’s passing. Since 1978 we had been good friends and his genuine passion for all things rock was a well known fact. His support for The Soundhouse and all we did back then never wavered and he championed the cause of NWOBHM with real enthusiasm, drive and determination to help establish it worldwide.
A great friend to so many within the industry and bands alike, he earned the heartfelt love and respect from all. A quiet unassuming man who never liked a fuss or attention, he was a real unique and caring guy who in fairness always told it as it was.
I shall miss him badly as indeed I expect thousands of others across the world who also knew him as the go-to guy for any info on our genre of music past or present.
Farewell old friend! We shall meet again one day for sure … and thank you for all you did for us.

Rest In Peace Malc!
The word “legend” is bandied about all too often these days, but in case of the always-on Mr Dome it is thoroughly appropriate. Look up the word “Enthusiasm” in a dictionary, & you ought to be greeted by a high quality photo of Malcolm with that effervescent smile of his, accompanied by a witty quote. I’ll start the petition …
