The new studio album from Swedish band Houston titled ‘IV’ was produced by former member Ricky Delin, who was excited about the idea of working with them again and jumped at the opportunity to co-write songs for the album.
According to singer Hank Erix’’We are truly excited about the new music on the ‘IV’ album. We knew right from the start that we wanted to make a great AOR album and that it had to be big, fresh and truly bombastic.’’
Well, the singer may be making a bold claim that they are making a great AOR album, that is big, fresh and truly bombastic, but is it any good, well, read on & find out.
The songs that made me sit up and take notice, when giving the album a listen, were ‘She Is The Night’, ‘You’re Still The Woman’, ‘Hero’, ‘A Lifetime In A Moment’, ‘Until The Morning Comes’, ‘Such Is Love’ and ‘Into Thin Air’.
The tracks ‘You’re Still The Woman’, ‘Hero’ and ‘A Lifetime In A Moment’ would make for great singles and would be the perfect way for making an impact and have the makings of real radio hits.
The songs that didn’t make me sit up and take notice, were ‘Heartbreaker’, ‘Storyteller’, ‘Heart Of A Warrior’, ‘I Will Not Give In To Despair’. Even though these songs were competently arranged and executed, didn’t hold my attention long enough. Shame.
In all honesty, Houston’s ‘IV’ is an album that is close to being a essential listen, however, the four songs that didn’t blow me away, are what is truly disappointing and stopping me saying that this is a perfick sounding album. It’s good for the most part, however.
