IANWILL Release New Single ‘Phantom Feed’ Alongside Music Video Exploring Digital Alienation
Phantom of the Opera was yesterday — now it’s Phantom Feed. In tune with the times, the French metal band IANWILL release their new single “Phantom Feed”, including an abstract yet gripping music video. Driven by a suffocating heaviness blending metalcore, melodic death metal and djent textures, the track oscillates between crushing passages and high-tension choruses, critiquing the darker sides of a social-digital phenomenon.
No one embodies elegant simplicity and admirable charm quite like the French — or so the saying goes. What is often left out of that stereotypical image, however, is sheer, soul-crushing heaviness. IANWILL prove exactly that: in their own words, they define their sound as
metalcore and death influences, where hard-hitting melodic compositions meet a raw and incisive aesthetic.
Nothing is more compelling than when two worlds collide — and even more so when opposites don’t just clash, but hold together. In an increasingly interconnected and media-saturated world, boundaries blur and established structures are constantly being redefined.
New phenomena, once driven by positive intentions, take on a life of their own and become harder to regulate — two sides of the same coin. The smartphone, once designed for social connection, now often isolates instead. It is precisely this contradiction that “Phantom Feed” puts under scrutiny.
The single delves into a world of digital alienation where screens replace human connection and identity dissolves into the endless stream. This tension is also reflected stylistically: massive, glass-shattering vocal bursts from Audrey Ebrotié collide with clear, ethereal and melancholic passages, creating a constant duality — a parallel between calm and violence, understanding and frustration.

Stylistically consistent since 2017, now approaching a decade, IANWILL have proven both at home and across Europe that their sound is as solid as their live performances. In 2019, their debut album “One Credit Left” emerged, followed in 2025 by the stylistic milestone and anchor point for their upcoming work: the EP “Echoes.”
Much like an echo, the new single “Phantom Feed” resonates far beyond its runtime. Definitely worth a listen — just a small tip on the side.
