The new album from Ice Nine Kills is titled ‘The Silver Scream 2:Welcome To Horrorwood’ is an audio horror experience and picks up from where it’s predecessor ‘The Silver Scream’ left off!
The album’s subject matter is based on a suspected killer, who leaves clues in the songs on the album, ‘Welcome To Horrorwood’, ‘A Rash Decision’, ‘Assault And Batteries’, ‘The Shower Scene’, ‘Funeral Derangements’, ‘Rainy Day’, ‘Hip To Be Scared’, ‘Take Your Pick’, ‘The Box’, ‘F.L.Y.’, ‘Wurst Vacation’, ‘Ex-Mortis’ and ‘Farewell 2 Flesh’, as to who their identity is. Worth investigating!
The music is played frantically to hold your interest from the moment it starts, yet, at the same time, can make you feel uneasy, but, in a good way. Ice Nine Kills are good at executing this.
During the tracks, they use spoken word to give you a flavour of what it’s like to be a part of this audio movie and it’s done well.
The vocal guest appearances on the album from the likes of Papa Roach’s Jacoby Shaddix, Cannibal Corpse’s George ‘Corpsegrinder’ Fisher, Atreyu’s Brandon Saller, Fit For A King’s Ryan Kirby and Senses Fail’s Buddy Nielsen, all add their own individual spin on tracks, that will make you sit up and take notice.
After having listened to this album, I can’t help thinking that this album definitely needs a visual experience along with the audio, to really hammer the impact even further into the cranium, to really make for a truly remarkable treat for the senses.
To summarise, upon listening to this album, it will have you hooked from the opening track, however, on repeated listens, you’ll start to put the pieces as to who you think the killer is…will you be right! Let’s hope the band knows.
