Italian legends Lacuna Coil and Finnish band Blind Channel delivered an unforgettable double feature at the Roundhouse; each bringing their unique strengths to an iconic London stage.
Blind Channel
Blind Channel’s London show was nothing short of electrifying! Fresh off a wave of success since their Eurovision days, brought a raw, unfiltered energy.
Their performances of ‘XOXO’ and ‘Die Another Day’ with Rory were highlights for the fans. Their unique blend of metal and pop elements kept everyone on their feet, and Backstreet Boys’ ‘Everybody’ metal twist cover left fans with a big smile. Their chemistry on stage was palpable, and the energy they brought was infectious.
A powerful ending to their set with ‘Dark Side’, left the audience on a high note. Despite the announcement of their upcoming hiatus, the performance felt like a celebration of their journey so far. While fans will definitely miss them, a break could lead to some exciting new directions for the band and will be interesting to see where this ‘pause’ eventually takes them.
Lacuna Coil
Lacuna Coil followed with a show that reminded us once more why they’ve been a staple in the metal scene for decades. The band’s vocal creativity was on full display, with Cristina Scabbia and Andrea Ferro showcasing their vocal duality that’s become an iconic part of their music brand. Scabbia’s haunting, ethereal voice layered beautifully over Ferro’s gritty vocals.
The band delivered a powerful set that included classics ‘Our Truth’ and ‘Heaven’s a Lie XX’ combined with newer material.
Depeche Mode’s cover of ‘Enjoy the Silence’ is just as synonymous to the show just as the band’s own material and has offered a glorious ending to the main set.
The encore featured anthems like ‘Trip the Darkness’ and ‘Spellbound’ wrapping up a night filled with emotion, energy, and the kind of connection that only a band with a rich history can achieve.
With the imminent release of their new album (on Valentine’s Day 2025), there is a lot of excitement surrounding the band, among fans and the metal community alike.
Lacuna Coil and Blind Channel made for an amazing double feature which gave a packed Roundhouse a night that spanned fresh energy alongside timeless artistry.
