Lemmy Honoured by Motörhead and Given Pride of Place at Stringfellows

As the December chilly rainy night drew in a lucky few including our own Dawn Osborne were invited to see some of Lemmy’s ashes installed behind the bar of Stringfellows night club, a place that he loved to frequent when in London.
The ashes have been preserved in an urn in the shape of his distinctive cavalry hat atop a pyramid, reflecting the original entombed at Forest Lane Memorial Cemetery in the Hollywood Hills.
Firstly members of the Motorheadbangers paid tribute to the man himself commenting that Lemmy was loved by everyone, had a great sense of humour and impeccable manners, a “one off” that always had time for the fans. They commented that it was extremely fitting that some of his ashes should be at Stringfellows and implored attendees to celebrate his life and everything he had done for music for over 40 years.
Phil Campbell, guitarist of Motörhead then gave a short speech. He commented that Lemmy was unique, loved being on a tour bus and meeting people explaining that this was part of the ‘Lemmy Forever’ events to remember Lemmy, and there would be more events including 50 year Motörhead anniversary celebrations.
Phil said Motorhead was not past tense, it is present tense as the music will love forever. Lemmy had planned from the beginning to create an unforgettable Rock ‘n’ Roll band.
He thanked the Stringfellows staff before placing Lemmy’s urn pride of place behind the bar. This is something Lemmy had wanted and Phil joked that he would have a good view (two pole dancers are permanently dancing opposite the bar where Lemmy will sit).
Attendees were treated to shots of Motörhead rum in shot glasses bearing the Lemmy Forever logo, Motörhead pale ale in Motorhead Roadcrew tall beakers and given memorial t-shirts to mark the occasion. Unforgettable occasion for an unforgettable man!
