LEPPARD WIN HALL OF FAME FAN VOTE
Written by Malcolm Dome on December 11, 2018
Def Leppard have won the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame fan vote this year.
The band picked up 547,647 votes, which means they beat Stevie Nicks (427,844), Todd Rundgren (365,370), The Zombies (329,052) and The Cure (264,443). But this does not automatically mean they will be among those artists chosen to be inducted next year. They will find out on December 13, when the list is made public. However, since the fan vote was introduced, every one of the six acts to come out on top has been inducted.
Leppard have been eligible for nomination since 2004, but this is the first year they’ve been been included. The others on the shortlist for induction at the ceremony to be held in New York on March 29 are Rage Against The Machine, Radiohead, Roxy Music, Devo, Kraftwerk, MC5, John Prine, Rufus featuring Chaka Khan, LL Cool J and Janet Jackson.
