On The 20th Anniversary of ‘Meteora’ Linkin park release ‘Fighting Myself’
The track is an outtake from the bands’ 2003 hit album, following on from ‘Lost’ which was released to the world back in February. Both tracks will feature on the upcoming special edition of ‘Meteora’ available April 7th. Featuring vocals from the late Chester Bennington and a verse from rapper Mike Shinoda it’s a rare insight into those decades ago recording sessions. Following the release of their debut record ‘Hybrid Theory’ in 2000 the band did more than create a buzz. With the album certified Diamond and the claws of the nu metal scene deep within the industry Linkin Park rose to international fame. ‘One Step Closer’, ‘In The End’ and ‘Crawling’ from the album all charted highly on the US Mainstream Rock chart. ‘Meteora’ continued this success. Last track on the record, ‘Numb’, becomame a universal sensation, with covers being released from artists from all genres to this day.
The industry was hit hard in 2017 with the death of singer and songwriter Chester Bennington. Following his suicide Linkin Park entered a hiatus, with co-founder Mike Shinoda stating last year the band had no plans to record new material or tour. This special release will include the full ‘Meteora’ album, 19 demos from the Linkin Park studio archive and 10 live rarities. There isn’t a soul within the scene who doesn’t know Linkin Park. Through Chester’s memory and the bands undeniable impact on artists, writers and fans alike, it’ll no doubt be a savoured release with plenty of nostalgic insight to enjoy.
