Matt Speed hails from West Yorkshire, and has been broadcasting new music shows since 2021 when he began presenting on Forge Radio at Sheffield University, and earned recognition from the Student Radio Association Conference for his passion and enthusiasm in hosting the Forge Radio Rock Show in 2023. A musician and songwriter himself, he is fascinated by the craft of music-making and discovering new sounds, especially in the realm of alternative music, as well as being able to offer his own artistic perspective to the music he plays. His musical tastes are broad, from the sunny charm of slacker rock, to the riffs, power and melodic drama of modern rock, through to the bone-shaking aggression of hardcore metal genres – you can expect to hear any and all of these styles during his show, The Speedometer.
