In light of disturbing revelations in the US Capitol, how should metal react to extremism in its ranks?This Tuesday at 7 PM GMT the World Metal Congress will host a conversation asking what it all means in the unimpeachable company of GAMA BOMB’s Philly Byrne and Metal Hammer Deputy Editor Eleanor Goodman.
What happens when members of the metal community reveal abhorrent beliefs? Is there common ground or should we simply reciprocate intolerance with intolerance and call it out? It’s a debate almost as old as metal itself, but as startling images of Jon Schaffer of Iced Earth‘s presence at the deadly riots in the US Capitol have revealed, there is still no consensus on how extreme views in our music should be confronted.
