Pantera Play First US Show In 22 Years

After 22 Years Pantera Are Back Performing On US Soil

Years of anticipation, months of preparation and finally the day came. Playing at the Thunder Beach Motorcycle Rally in Florida last night Pantera stormed the stage on home turf; the first time since July 25th 2001. Original members Philip Anselmo (vocals) and Rex Brown (bass) were joined by Zakk Wylde on guitar and Charlie Benante on drums. With Anselmo and Brown standing as the last surviving members of one the worlds most influential metal bands it was a surprising yet much welcomed announcement last year when they released world tour dates that will go well into 2024. Since 1981 Pantera have held themselves as titans on the scene with the ‘Cowboys from Hell’ album breaking them into the mainstream sparking the start of ongoing commercial success. Long running disputes between members led to the band breaking up in 2003. Last July the two remaining members issued a statement announcing tour dates to start in Mexico. Playing the Heaven & Hell festival it was the first time Pantera strode out in this new lineup since Dimebag Darrell’s (guitar) tragic death in 2004 and brother Vinnie Paul’s (drum) passing in 2018.
