Pop-Punk Powerhouse Syteria Bring Raw Energy and Roaring Guitars to the Launch of Their New Album ‘Syteriaworld!’

As Syteria took to the stage at The Black Heart in Camden for the release show for their third album, ‘Syteriaworld’, the atmosphere was galvanic!! Opening with a storming rendition of their track, ‘Guilty’ from their album reflection, the audience were grabbed in a vice like grip that wasn’t relinquished until the very last note. With the charismatic Julia Calvo on lead vocals, rock royalty Jackie ‘Jax’ Chambers on guitar and vocals, the punk powerhouse Steph Dawson on Bass and Vocals, and Julia’s brother and phenomenal drummer Pablo Calvo who masterfully mixes Argentinian grooves and pop-punk thrash beats with skill and ease on the skins, Syteria proved themselves as a formidable force in the contemporary pop-punk scene from the onset.

With support from Star Circus, an eclectic and incredibly good hard-rock band with a taste of glam, who were a fitting opener and a great band in their own right, who delivered an effortlessly uber cool set that drew the crowd in.

‘Systeriaworld’ is the first album that the band have written together and it has a punkier rawer edge than their two previous albums. Speaking to Julia after the show she talked about how their new bass player Steph Dawson was a great fit for the band and this is evident in their pulsatingly punky sound! She talked about how Syteria are a family and the way they work together on stage makes this clear! Their transitions are seamless and their performance floorless. They are clearly a band who really enjoy performing together and their enthusiasm and sense of fun was infectious!

As Syteria played track after track of punky-pop raw unapologetic tunes bursting full of beautifully blended pop-punk with effortless vocal melodies, thought provoking lyrics, crunching guitars and pounding drum beats there was one thing for sure, Syteria have taken pop-punk to a whole new level! And with their new single ‘Monsters’ already gaining industry attention, the only way is up for Syteria!

Julia proved herself to be a formidable front-woman as she engaged the crowd, bringing both humour and vulnerability to her performance. Their new single, ‘Monsters’, a song that talks about the falsities of social media and how people will stab you in the back whilst smiling to your face is sure to resonate with many I’m sure! It is song that is as radio friendly as 80’s Girl-band ‘The Bangles’ yet as punchy and punk as ‘The Ramones’!

A special mention has to go to Jackie ‘Jax’ Chambers, a woman who kicks arse as much as she always has!! A pop-punk iconoclastic who’s always flown the flag for female empowerment and is undoubtedly a driving force behind this exceptional band! If this gig is anything to go by, then this album is good and well worth hammering your Spotify or diving into your iTunes downloads for, it’s not just good and worth it but more. send your brain into its happy place and have you singing those catchy choruses and humming those hooking licks for weeks, worth it!! One of those albums you’d be crazy to be without! So, if you haven’t got it already, get it now!! It’s on a whole new level!
