Glastonbury Slot and New Music Dropped

As the infamous festival announced its final line-up today – with the usual juicy platter of mish-mash genre musicians – QOTSA released another track from their upcoming album. The American rockers will headline The Other Stage on Sunday 26th June, pitted up against Elton John who will take the Pyramid Stage top dog slot at the same time. But with 200,000 drink merry campers in attendance, it would be a far cry to say any stage will be less than packed. Icons on the rock scene that they are, QOTSA are due to release yet another killer album on the 16th June through label Matador. The pre-record launch saw them drop first single ‘Emotion Sickness’ back in May before ‘Carnavoyeur’ was released earlier today. The track starts with an ambient crescendo zone in before Josh Homme’s unmistakable vocals hit us with that staple QOTSA sound.

The band posted their latest singles lyric video on social media with the caption, “‘Carnavoyeur’ must be heard to be believed”. With a spectrum of fluorescent macabre colours augmenting the tracks themes it’s another confirmation QOTSA will keep giving us exactly what we want. The upcoming album is promised to fulfil not only their audience but also themselves. According to the guys ‘In Times New Roman’ will be “the sound of a band creating the music its own members want to hear, while giving the rest of us a sonic forum in which to congregate”. Whatever’s in store it looks like another great year ahead as they stride towards their 30th year as one of the industry’s most favoured and respected bands.
