Phil Campbell and The Bastards Sons brought hard rock and hellfire to the Maid of Stone Festival, delivering a kick arse set of Motorhead Classics to a cheering crowd of diehard fans! As surely one of the hardest working heavy rock bands in the UK right now, this band are as tight as it gets and worked the crowd into a rocking headbanging frenzy from the very first track!! With Joel Peters at the helm, delivering his signature roaring hard rock vocal, storming around the stage like he owned the place! With the legendry Phil Campbell on guitar and vocals, Todd Campbell on guitar, Tyler Campbell on Bass and Dane Campbell on drums, from the very first grinding rockin’ note The Sons were on Fire!
When rock icon Lemmy Kilmister passed through the pearly gates into rock’n’roll Valhalla, I think many fans feared that his music would die with him, but what Phil Campbell has done is no less than remarkable! He’s taken an iconic band added his offspring, brought in hard-rock powerhouse Joel Peters and created a band that not only keep the much-loved classics like the Ace and Spades ringing in the ears of their fans, but he’s breathed new life into something which was lets face it, pretty mind-blowing anyway!!
A definite highlight has to be the Motorhead anthem, Born to Raise Hell!! It went down an absolute storm with it’s raging vocals and crunching guitars!! It left the crowd roaring with appreciation!
And just when the crowd were in their rockin’ happy place, The Sons launched into a blistering rendition of the Hawkwind classic, Silver Machine to raucous applause!! This truly was one hell of a night to remember and one the audience will never forget!!
