Rule Britannia! A New Charity Rock Single For The NHS
Written by Duncan MacKellar on July 11, 2020
There is a new charity single about to be released that has been recorded in lockdown in aid of our awesome NHS. It is the result of an idea by Adam Feasey of rock band Adam And The Hellcats which grew arms and legs to become what it is now… It is officially released on July 17th but… I’ll let Adam tell you all about it.
“Hey Dunk … Adam here. Thank You TOTALROCK for allowing me to tell you about this.
So, when the UK’s lockdown came into force, I saw the sheer doom and gloom in the media. People feeling like they’d never see normality again, and I couldn’t stand it. That’s when the song itself first came into being but that was only the first stage. I sent the demo to my friend Tryston Blyth for some feedback and he suggested bringing in some bigger name musicians to help. He suggested contacting Jackie Chambers from the legendary Girlschool. I have to admit I was sceptical at first if it would work but she’s a hero to me and it was too tempting not to try.
A few days later I woke up to a message from Jackie saying she was up for being involved. I have no issue saying I totally freaked out. It also gave me the confidence to get more musicians involved and really make this something special! I then went on a total spree of finding people and the final line up included Luke Short of Ravenbreed, William Taylor of White Raven Down, Autumn Golding of Surrge, ex Gnarwolves frontman Thom Weeks, Eddie Mole of The Angry Badgers, singer songwriter Ryan Webb and Adam Thistlethwaite from Massive Wagons.
The reaction to the song so far on social media and radio has been crazy. Yes the song is a charity single raising money for the NHS but I never thought something I’d created would cause such a reaction.”
Every time someone purchases it or buys a tee-shirt, 100% of profits will go directly to the NHS.
