Founding Saxon Member Paul Quinn Steps Back from Touring

In a statement released on facebook the band stated “after much soul searching our great friend and fellow warrior Paul Quinn has decided to step back from touring with Saxon. Paul will continue to record with the band and may play select special shows in the future. Saxon stand by Paul’s decision and will keep you all informed regarding our next journey.” They state the stress that comes with extensive touring as the main reason as well as long bouts on the road.

Paul Quinn steps back from touring with Saxon after 4 decades.

Quinn is not only a founding member but has been a core aspect of Saxon since forming in 1975. Originally named ‘Son of a Bitch’ they’ve gigged extensively from 1976 onwards. They hit the UK Albums Chart in 1980 with the ‘Wheels of Steel’ record and continued to pump out music as a rock ‘n’ roll rate. With ‘Denim and Leather’, ‘Crusader’, ‘Call To Arms’ (to name a few) and most recently ‘Carpe Diem’, Saxon have refused to call themselves a thing of the past with a loyal fanbase and thundering reputation. Aside from Biff Byford, Quinn stands as the only other founding member still within the Saxon ranks. Though fans will miss his presence on the stage they will still get treated to his work on the upcoming material. Most notably, the upcoming album ‘More Inspirations’ to be released this year.

Regarding current ticket holders the band had this to say, “The current run of March shows in Europe will continue as is but the band will be cancelling their April dates in South America and the MOR Cruise to give time to re-book”. They followed on to say these territories will be re-booked as soon as time permits.
