SCARDUST and PATTY GURDY premiere epic new video with a shock ending

Written by on May 23, 2022

The video for Scardust’s prog-folk-metal epic track Concrete Cages is finally to be released this week!

Concrete Cages feat. Patty Gurdy will be premiered on the Prog website – www.loudersound.com/prog at 10am BST on Wednesday 25th May and released on www.youtube.com/scardust at 4pm BST on Thursday 26th when the band will be online to chat 30 mins before the release.

Taken from the album “Strangers“, Concrete Cages is a celebration of epic progressive metal with a touch of folk, featuring hurdy gurdy star Patty Gurdy, the Hellscore metal choir and a string quartet. The song is about leaving a simpler life in order to live in the big city, where everyone who’s anyone is and where everything “happens”. But in line with the album’s overall theme, there is contradiction in the song. The lyrics resonate with ambitious high-achievers who have chosen to leave the quiet place they loved to pursue their aspirations, but it also reflects on the unsustainable urbanization process assisting in our planet’s decay. And there’s a sting in the tail of this story, although one that’s hinted at throughout the video if you look closely…

Patty Gurdy
states: “Working with Scardust is like working with a group of wizards. The whole band consists of extremely skilled musicians and their creative energy is absolutely inspiring.”

Noa Gruman, singer of Scardust, says: “Filming Concrete Cages was unbelievable. Had you asked me 2 years ago, I probably would have said it will never happen, because at the time, it looked like the cancellation was final. But none of the people involved gave up on it.
As soon as it was possible for Patty to finally make the trip to Tel Aviv, she hopped on a plane in a heartbeat. Patty is not only an amazing artist, but also an incredible human being. She has always believed in our music and never gave up on us.
Hellscore is simply a family. They are always there for me, whether in the scorching sun or on a freezing night like the one we had on that glamorous skyscraper rooftop.
My bandmates Yoav, Orr, Yadin and Aaron are my brothers. We will do anything for each other, and for the band. Even if it means driving from one side, to the other side of the country and back again for a videoshoot, and moving 2 drum kits in the middle of the night.
The production was managed by the spirited Lahav Levi who worked round the clock to ensure that every second and every frame in this video is as close to perfect as could be. I hope you will be able to see the passion and love that was put into it. Concrete Cages finally has the video it deserves!

Lahav Levi, Producer: “As fate would have it, I met my good friends Aaron Friedland and Orr Didi just as I was taking a career break from the film & television industry. Getting to know and appreciate Orr’s work with Scardust behind the scenes, I naturally became a fan. Thankfully, Orr put me in touch with the amazing and humble Noa Gruman and together, joined by a very talented group of individuals, we produced this honorable, well deserved, massive piece of art that I hope will leave its mark on history’s pages.

SCARDUST can be seen at the Dong Open Air Festival in Neukirchen-Vluyn, Germany on 14th July and at Wacken Open Air Festival in August. They are also performing a show at the Gagarin Club in Tel Aviv on 9th July 2022 to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the release of Sands Of Time. See the band’s socials for details.
