Following Their Split Former Thundermother Members Announce New Band
Guernica Mancini (vocals), Mona Lindgren (bass), and Emlee Johansson (drums), announced their brand new band project, ‘The Gems’ with debut single ‘Phoenix’ due for release this April. Their preceding band released a statement not long ago revealing only founding member and guitarist Filippa Nässil would be staying.
Though tensions have never been made apparent to the public, in an interview for Germany’s Metal Hammer Mancini let loose with expose behind the scene stories. After returning from touring with the legendary Scorpians last year it wasn’t long before Nässil announced the split in February. In the interview Mancini told of how she was fired from the band via email. Shortly after hearing about the news both Lindgren and Johansson made the decision to join Mancini in a new venture.
Nässil will continue Thundermother with a new lineup featuring Linnéa Vikström (At The Movies, Therion) and returning bassist Majsan Lindberg. Wishing nothing but her best for her former bandmates, Nässil expressed her gratitude to the girls and their time spent together.
Though the uncertainty of the extent of the drama that fuelled the split is still up for some deliberation, it’s clear both groups are moving forwards with excitement and force. The only question that remains is what will happen in regards to their upcoming European tour. Due to begin this May and end with a slot at Hellfest fans will have to wait to see what’s been decided.
