“THE JOKERS” ANNOUNCED AS JANUARY’S BAND-OF-THE-MONTH WINNER

Legendary rockers The Jokers are confirmed as winners of the first TotalRock Band-of-the-Month poll of 2023.
This iconic hard rock band hails from the North West of England, and have been performing their timeless yet contemporary classic rock since the release of their debut album, ‘The Big Rock ‘N’ Roll Show” which was awarded 8/10 in Classic Rock’s Summer 2009 issue by scribe and TotalRock DJ Dom Lawson, who stated
“If you’re going to start nominating yourself for the intermittently vacant position of rock’n’roll standard bearers, you’d better have the sound, the swagger and the songs. Fortunately, The Jokers have all three in large amounts.”
The album was mixed by Mike Fraser in Vancouver, who had just finished mixing AC/DC’s 10 million–selling Black Ice album. The band then hit the road, playing a range of sold–out gigs and selling over 8000 CD’s and 6,000 downloads of their debut album. The Jokers went on to record their second album, ‘Rock ‘N’ Roll Is Alive’, with producer Andy Macpherson, who has worked with the likes of Eric Clapton and The Who. The album was released in 2013 and was met with rave reviews. The Jokers then played a series of sell–out gigs, including a packed–out show at the Borderline in London, as well as Hard Rock Hell VII and the inaugural Planet RockStock Festival in Great Yarmouth.
They have since toured with Status Quo, The Sweet, Hayseed Dixie, and headlined tours in Germany, Spain, and Belgium. The Jokers’ fourth album, ‘Rock and Roll Bones’, has been acclaimed by critics, with Firework Magazine noting its “bluesy, old–school, laid back, up tempo, groove–laden, Hard Rock of the highest quality” and Powerplay commenting that “She’s on Fire just happens to have one of the best chorus’ you will hear all year”. The band are now looking forward to their upcoming 2023 UK and European tour, with plans to bring their classic yet contemporary hard rock to the masses.
