THE ULTIMATE 2000TREES SURVIVAL GUIDE WITH HAGGARD CAT

Written by on July 3, 2022

We all know that Haggard Cat can tear up a festival stage like no other, but it turns out they’re also pretty good at giving tips for festival survival. Matt Reynolds is here to help you through 2000trees with his helpful (and pretty genius) tips and hints for the weekend to come.

  1. Pace Yourself!

We’ve all been waiting for this for three years. Personally the first thing that’s on my mind is partying like it was going out of fashion, however it would be wise to treat this as a marathon, not a sprint. I know you’ve brought precisely one million beers, VKs and “misc”, but try to spread it out and not crap out on the first day ruining the rest of the festival. Take breaks, hydrate and make sure you’re still (just about) standing by Idles on Saturday night.

  1. Never Under-Estimate the Re-healing Power of the Forest Stage

Okay it’s day two and safe to say we’ve all suitably ignored point number one, you snuck into the guest bar and talked the ears off of Jimmy Eat World and now you have the fear. Don’t dwell on it! That was past you, and present you has a festival to smash. Get your butt out of that tent, grab a coffee and let the soothing sounds of the Forest top your excellence levels right back up to full power, DAY TWO BABY!

  1. Utilise the Showers

Rumour has it that this year Trees has public showers! Rejoice! We all love a little bit of that festival muck layer, but let’s be real, we’d all rather bounce around to Nickelback in the silent disco not smelling like a toilet-person. Don’t forget to bring a towel. If this turns out to be just a rumour… then I guess ignore this, skip to point four and embrace the stank.

  1. Deviate from the Plan

The Trees lineup this year is frankly insane and we all have a mega-list of bands we simply can’t miss. Try your best not to let that stress you out by being too regimented, that’s not what Trees is about! Go with the flow a little, don’t lose your mates, above all else make sure that it’s still fun and embrace stumbling into a stage and discovering something new. Unless you’re missing Haggard Cat that is, in that case the sprint from the Main Stage to the Axiom is completely justified (that’s Thursday, 14.30 on the Axiom for the record)

  1. In Sleep We Trust

This one may sound most obvious, but getting a good rest is key! Invest in a good eye mask and some earplugs to block out the 5am revellers and wake up fresh as a daisy ready to hit it all again twice as hard! Maybe even get in a spot of 2kTrees morning yoga if you’re feeling ultra perky, just do your best not to rub it in too much to those less zen than your fine self.

  1. Keep Your Eyes Peeled For Some Surprises!

If there’s one thing you can guarantee from Trees, it’s that there will be some big surprises in store, keep those peepers peeled for something special hiding in plain view! Here’s a cheeky hint from us… if you’re an early bird and coming down on Wednesday, make your walk back to the campsite after the bands have all finished nice and slow, we might personally have something waiting for you when you get there.

2000trees takes place in Cheltenham from 7th to 9th July 2022. Pick up your last-minute tickets here.

Catch Haggard cat on The Axiom stage at 14:30 on the Thursday (and maaaybe a bonus surprise set on the Wednesday for all the early birds, hint hint).
