Who is Kim Jennett?

Let me tell you about one of the hottest talents I have come across on my search for awesome rock.

Hailing from Warrington , Kim Jennett honed her craft as the lead singer of blues-tinged, hard rocking outfit Voodoo Blood where she not only built her reputation as a highly proficient singer but, crucially, also as an electrifying performer in the live arena. It was while fronting Voodoo Blood that her searing talents caught the attention of Myke Gray; founder & songwriter of Skin, Jagged Edge & Red White & Blues.

Invitation to Sing

Musically kindred spirits, Myke invited Kim to sing on the track Take Me Home from his album ‘Shades of Gray’. Kim also appears in the Pulp Fiction parodying video. It was Take Me Home that I first came into contact with Kim. Her voice on the track took me by surprise as I was expecting it to be instrumental after hearing the amazing Maverick. If you haven’t heard Maverick before, I use it on my show promo here on TotalRock – with Myke’s gracious permission of course. Take Me Home was credited as Myke Gray featuring Kim Jennett. The tables have now been turned and songs are now billed as Kim Jennett featuring Myke Gray.

Touring With Myke Gray

Following singing on Take Me Home, Kim then went on to guest as lead vocalist in Myke’s touring band, making their debut together last November at the Hard Rock Hell festival before going on to support the mighty Black Star Riders on their winter trek. Kim also performed with Myke at this years Winters End Festival and will also be appearing at KKs Steel Mill on May 11th. It has also just been announced that they have been added to the already stunning roster of bands at the Winterstorm festival in Troon, Scotland in November.

Solo Headlining Gigs

Kim will be headlining her first solo show on June 8th at the Blackpool Waterloo and then a week later at Download. Both shows will have Myke Gray wielding his guitar.

Singles and Forthcoming Album

Kim kicked off 2019 by unleashing her rip-roaring single Love Like Suicide
and her latest, Let Me Be The One is being championed by the NWOCR community. The finishing touches are being put to her debut solo album with Myke on production duties.

Myke told me this week that they have been working on a brand new song which will be ready for release very soon. I’ve heard a snippet and it’s sounding pretty awesome. Once it’s ready, they have promised to send it over so that I can let all you lovely people hear it on Keep It Rock With Dunk MacKellar.

*UPDATE – Titled Unbroken The single is out May 1st and we played it on the show for you exclusively on Monday 29th April – and … it’s AWESOME!
