DJ Matt Mason joins Mü’s ranks to pen a column around music and subculture.
TotalRock are proud to be working with multi faceted arts and counter culture magazine Mü. A quarterly journal of art, poetry, music, debate and dissent.
The magazine is the brainchild of the South London Arts collective and seeks to inform debate and inspire people, welcoming submissions from around the globe . (see the Send us Shit section of the website)
Described by it’s co founder legendary producer and Killing Joke founder, Youth as “..fearless, irreverent and non conformist – a necessity in these times” – Mü is a quarterly print magazine that launched in 2021 and has just released it’s fifth edition .
DJ Matt Mason has joined the magazines ranks and will be penning a column around music and subculture in each edition. The current magazine features Matt’s review of “Normal Never Was” – a double album that see’s artists from around the world and across a myriad of genres remix Crass’s anarcho punk classic debut “Feeding of the 5000”. Penny Rimbaud and the collective that is Crass made the stems from the original recording available to the world and invited musicians and producers to cut, loop, and abuse the tracks as they saw fit. The resultant album is raising money for “Refuge” a UK charity that supports those affected by Domestic Abuse.
Elsewhere in the magazine are interviews with cover star and Punk and UK subculture guru Don Letts and the magnificent Emma Ruth Rundle, Debbie Smith the firebrand guitarist from Curve, Nightnurse and Echobelly as well as Reggae and dub and Electronica pioneer Gaudi.
Mü looks at all forms of artistic expression and the magazine features interviews with and articles on graphic and contemporary artists, poets, writers of all genres and mediums from all parts of the globe. Equal parts firebrand cultural manual and gorgeous coffee table publication Mü really is a feast for the eyes (aside from Matt’s ugly mug ).
In trying times art stands tall and offers hope. Mü is a manifesto for the hopeful. Let’s just hope that bloke from the MattCave doesn’t ruin it (too much)!
