An event in the Derbyshire Peak District town of Castleton has emerged at a cave called ‘The Devil’s Arse‘, featuring UK Ghost tribute, Popestars, and Preston shock rockers, Ward XVI!

Ghost Con UK have teased details of a Ghost based convention at halloween, featuring performances, displays and exhibits, but first kick off with a Masquerade Ball in Peak Cavern, a tourist cave with tours and a purpose built stage! Whilst the venue typically hosts tributes across the spectrum it also see’s classic acts which this year include Big Country and Toyah! This event gives Ghost fans the opportunity to celebrate and dress up and get up close with acts in a more intimate setting.

Ward XVI released their second album, ‘Metamorphosis‘ in lockdown, and were a finalist for an early band of the month of ours. Popestars emerged in 2018, featuring members of Cradle of filth, Evil Scarecrow, Tigertailz, Forgotten Remains, Kid Klumsy, Patriot Rebel, Blackwater Conspiracy and Luna’s Call, and played Bloodstock’s Serpent Layer in 2021 to a record crowd in VIP – security even reported bribes being offered to get in to see the group, such was the hype around the band of ghouls.

The event is fully unofficial, by fans for fans, tickets are just £20 in advance and for attendees there will be exclusive giveaways, Ghost Gin: ‘Juniper‘, and spooky cocktails, meet & greet, plus the cave will be open for tours and the castle above is also open to the public. Public transport links end after curfew and there are plenty of hotels, B&Bs, and hostels in the area. The evening comes hosted by a face of the fandom and the cosplay scene, the Drag King known as Cardinal Copier (who may also make an appearance in a certain well known instrumental with a certain brass horn), expect to be poked, proded, and apparently squirted!
