Opening for King Diamond at Roundhouse, Unto Others made the most of their shorter slot, proving once again why they’re one of the most exciting bands in gothic rock today.

Though briefer than the setlist we enjoyed at Kentish Town earlier this year, the performance was no less impactful, their trademark darkness and energy cutting through the venue.

A brooding blend of gothic drama and metal, we were treated to Gabriel Franco’s deep and hypnotic baritone voice with Sebastian Silva’s piercing solos adding to the band’s gloom. Hill’s bass lines and Vranizan’s precise drumming anchored the band’s intense sound.

Opening with ‘Butterfly’, ‘Momma Likes the Door Closed’, and ‘Suicide Today’ from their latest album Never, Neverland, the band set an immediate dark tone. From there, they leaned into fan favourites ‘It Doesn’t Really Matter’ and ‘Can You Hear the Rain’. The closing run of ‘Heroin’, ‘When Will God’s Work Be Done’ and ‘Give Me to the Night’ built to a finale that left the Roundhouse buzzing.

Even with less stage time, Unto Others stamped their identity firmly on the night. They’re not just carrying forward the legacy of gothic rock – they’re reshaping it for a new era.

Anyone with a taste for the dark, the heavy and the dramatic should make a point of seeing them live.
