Leather Worn, Beer Drunk and An Industry That Just Keeps On Giving
For the first time since its indocrination The Heavy Metal Music Awards was held at arena level at Wembley OVO. Stunningly grandoise, presenter Alex Baker (of Planet Rock Radio) kept the evening going with the necessary earned introductions, audience rev ups and jokes both of the hilarious and the -brilliantly- terrible. Performances from Vukovi, Loathe, Boston Manor, Underoath Creeper and Halestorm (with guitarist Sophie Llyod joining) built up to an astounding crescendo of hard hitting metal mania. Pop icons Mcfly even made a surprising appearance to announce one of the winners which was, to say the least, unexpected but in many ways also, wildly metal. A few technicalities here and there but I can only imagine this is only the start and fully expect to see the HMA’s back at Wembley next year with an even better demonstration of why the industry is at an ascending peak with no prisoners taken.
