The Famed Guitarist Takes Legal Action After Seeing Profits Severely Cut

But that’s not the only thing making heads spin. Mars has also outed Crue as not actually playing their instruments live, with bassist Nikki Sixx being the centre of his claims. It’s been said Sixx’s parts are all pre-recorded despite his tendencies to talk down to Mars about his six string skills. Mars says he was ‘gaslit’ by his bandmates of 41 years in an attempt to kick him out of the group. He had issued a statement back in October saying he would no longer be touring due to worsening health issues but would continue to be in the studio and record. The next day the band issued their own statement saying Mars has officially ‘retired’ from Motley Crue on his own accord. Though now, with a suit having being filed it’s clear there are disagreements about his departure.

Obtained by TMZ, the lawsuit against Crue states Mars asserts his bandmates ‘unilaterally’ removed him the group before reducing his profits from 25 percent to just 5. According to variety the suit reads,”How did Mars‘s brothers of 41 years respond to Mars‘s tragic announcement [about quitting the road]? They noticed an emergency shareholders’ meeting for the band’s main corporate entity in order to throw Mars out of the band, to fire him as a director of the corporation, to fire him as an officer of the corporation, and to take away his shares of the corporation. When he did not go away quietly, they purported to fire him from six additional band corporations and LLCs.”

The suit also took on the backing track claims, stating, “Astonishingly, Sixx made these claims about Mars‘s playing while he [Sixx] did not play a single note on bass during the entire U.S. tour. Ironically, 100% of Sixx‘s bass parts were nothing but recordings. Sixx was seen fist pumping in the air with his strumming hand, while the bass part was playing. In fact, a significant portion of [VinceNeil‘s vocals were also pre-recorded. Even some of [TommyLee‘s drum parts were recordings. Some fans actually noticed that Lee was walking toward his drum set as they heard his drum part begin.”

Motley Crue have continued to tour with John 5 (John Williams Lowery) of Rob Zombie fame with Sixx even teasing that they had been writing new material. Whilst the lawsuit fold into full swing it’s a question of whether Crue will budge as they kick on with their world tour with Def Leppard.
