The infamous heavy metal rock-a-thon that is Wacken Open Air festival returns this year. Germany will play host to thousands of beer drinking head bangers as the annual event is back, now for the second time since taking a hiatus during the pandemic in 2020 and 2021. Iron Maiden, Doro, Megadeth, Kreator, The Dropkick Murphy’s, Anthrax, Uriah Heap, Wardruna, Jinjer and many, many more horn to the sky acts will descend upon the festival over the first weekend in August. Across 8 stages and 240 hectares of land the gods of thunder and steel will release their full music wrath upon the masses. Options for accommodation ranges from camping to rooms at ‘The Moshtel’, Wackens self contained hotel ensuring no daily commuting from outside the site is necessary. Gallons of tasty beer and traditional German munch will be available to fuel its hungry heavy metal lovers. The festival has grown to be one of the largest heavy metal festivals in the world and is the second economic driver of the small village of Wacken in which it takes place.
