BAND OF THE MONTH FOR JULY GOES TO ‘SCARDUST’

Written by on July 8, 2022

This month’s winners Scardust came comfortably top in both the DJs and the public votes.

With their origins back in 2015, this symphonic progressive cinematic folk metal metal combo from Israel celebrate the 5th anniversary of the debut Sands of Time this month, so it’s a very fitting time for them to be chosen as our Band of the Month.

The band have just released a video for Concrete Cages, a compelling mix of beautifully-shot rooftop performance footage, gorgeous forest scenery and an underlying concept about humanity’s desire to migrate from a simple country life to the bright lights of the big city that plays out through the very final seconds of the video.

The full album – described by Dead Rhetoric as “captivating from start to finish” – can be streamed on all major digital platforms or purchased on CD and limited-edition gray smoke vinyl at https://smarturl.com/scardust2020.

SCARDUST has also announced their latest wave of live performances. The band will be making its return to festival stages this summer with appearances at the 2022 Dong Open Air Festival in Neukirchen-Vluyn, Germany on July 14th, and at the 2022 Wacken Open Air Festival in August. The group will also be performing another hometown show on July 9th at the Gagarin Club in Tel Aviv, Israel to celebrate the 5th anniversary of their debut full-length, “Sands of Time.” The group’s most recent Tel Aviv performance – where they were joined by Gurdy in-person – was livestreamed throughout the world and can be viewed at https://youtu.be/jaVw_OHzVB0.

Singer Noa Gruman was also featured as a guest lead vocalist on Therion‘s latest record, “Leviathan” (Nuclear Blast), released in January 2021. This is in addition to an already-impressive list of recent guest vocal appearances, which also include Amorphis‘ 2018 record “Queen of Time,” Orphaned Land‘s 2018 album “Unsung Prophets and Dead Messiahs” and Ayreon’s recently released “Transitus.”

Israel’s leading progressive metal group, SCARDUST has performed at such major festivals as Ramblin’ Man Fair (UK), Metaldays (Slovenia) and Midi (China). In addition, the band hosts the annual “Scarfest” event in their home country, where they’ve also appeared alongside the likes of  Therion, Epica and Symphony X.

SCARDUST is:
Noa Gruman – Vocals
Yadin Moyal – Guitar
Aaron Friedland – Keyboards
Orr Didi – Bass
Yoav Weinberg – Drums
